The Algeria international is said to have caught the attention of Arsene Wenger’s men, with Metro claiming that the Gunners have lodged a bid for the left-back as a potential long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal.
However, despite reports to the contrary, Napoli chief Cristiano Giuntoli has poured cold water on suggestions that the full-back could leave the Stadio San Paolo ahead of next season.
“Ghoulam will remain in Naples 100 per cent and will not move,” Giuntoli told Calciomercato.
“Offers? Who would come forward? Arsenal and Atletico? Of course there are clubs interested in Faouzi, it is logical for a player of this value, but nothing more.
“If we got an offer we would take care to examine it and talk about it with the player. Ghoulam is an important player and will be one of the key elements for Napoli next season.”
Arsenal’s transfer business so far this off-season has seen Petr Cech move from London rivals Chelsea to the Emirates Stadium in a bid to give the team a solid and consistent number one.
Wenger confirmed recently, on the club's official website, that he would look to bring in more quality players if they become available but the French manager is known for his considered approach in the transfer market.
Any potential move for Ghoulam will surely depend on the future of Monreal, with Kieran Gibbs another option for the North London side at left-back.
The Gunners' potential pursuit of the African defender could well be boosted by the fact that Napoli have not qualified for next season’s Champions League.
