A round up of news stories this morning related to Arsenal.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has been quoted by the Daily Mail, speaking about ‘absurd’ fitness levels in the Premier League.

The midfielder has suggested that any player in England’s top flight faces a massive challenge to stay in top shape just to compete.

Wilshere himself has suffered with fitness issues in the recent past, especially with an ankle problem.

“The intensity of the Premier League is incredible. The levels of fitness you have to reach just to survive in it is absurd,” he said.

The Daily Express has reported that Arsenal have suffered a blow in their reported pursuit of Eduardo Vargas.

The paper claims that the striker is a key target for the Gunners, as Arsene Wenger considers ways to revitalise his squad ahead of the new season.

However, they suggest that Vargas is more likely to take a move to the UAE or opt for a switch to Spanish football.

The Daily Mail has reported that Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud wants a face-to-face session with Gunners legend Thierry Henry.

The reported request comes after Henry claimed that the Gunners could not win the Premier League with Giroud as their main striker.

Giroud has stressed the importance for any player not doubting himself when he’s going through a difficult spell of form.

“The main thing is not to have any doubt when you miss a chance or miss a game. It can happen sometimes,” he said.
