The Reds have added the former Bolton Wanderers man to their squad this season and the current number one is pleased.
The former Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper was brought in to Anfield on a free transfer last month after his contract with the Trotters came to an end, with Liverpool moving swiftly to secure him.
They were in need of another goalkeeper in the squad after Brad Jones left the club at the end of last season, with the Australian never truly having looked up to the standard at Anfield.
Bogdan though, should provide more of a challenge and Mignolet says that will be good for the squad.
“There needs to be competition throughout the squad, in every single position,” he told lfctour.com.
“We work hard to make sure we get fit and compete with each other because that's always the best thing for the club. It's always nice to meet new goalkeepers; the goalkeepers' union is very strong inside the dressing room.”
An improvement on Brad Jones
Bogdan is certainly a good signing for Brendan Rodgers’ side, as in the simplest form he is an improvement on what they had previously.
Jones never truly challenged Mignolet for his first-team place and was only used when desperately necessary last season, with nobody looking overly confident in him.
Bogdan though, has impressed over the years at Bolton and will provide much better competition to the Belgian shot-stopper, with Mignolet already knowing his boss will be quick to drop him should he suffer a similar bad run as the one he endured last year.
