A player linked with Newcastle United may well be on the move this summer.
TMW claimed earlier this week that the Magpies are interested in bringing the 25-year-old to St James’ Park this summer and now there is the suggestion his current club are preparing for his departure.
Okaka has one year left on his current contract and the latest from TMW suggests AC Milan striker Matri is being lined up to replace him should he move on.
His departure is not a foregone conclusion, but Newcastle are the latest club to show an interest and if a concrete bid comes in for a player who would be a free agent in 12 months, a move may be sensible for all concerned.
Newcastle certainly need attacking reinforcements but Okaka on his own would not be the answer. However, he would definitely bring something to Steve McClaren’s side and if he settled quickly he has the attributes to quickly endear himself to the Magpies’ supporters.
If Sampdoria are considering reinforcements, Okaka could well be on the move. The question is: With Newcastle continuing to be linked with Anderlecht forward Aleksandar Mitrovic (as reported by Chronicle Live), would the club move for both front-men if the opportunity presented itself?
