Liverpool transfer round-up: Benteke bid imminent, Sterling completes Manchester City deal

All the latest summer transfer news from Anfield...

Liverpool have confirmed on their official website that England international Raheem Sterling has completed his move from Anfield to Manchester City.

Sterling, 20, has been embroiled in a lengthy saga over his future at Anfield, and - finally - his future had been determined after City secured a deal.

The BBC report that City have paid around £49m to sign Sterling, handing Reds manager Brendan Rodgers a huge budget to work with ahead of the new season.

The Mirror now suggest that Liverpool have already decided who to spend their money on - Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

The Belgian hitman ended the season in fine form for Aston Villa, and with an alleged £32.5m release clause in his contract, Liverpool could make a bid for the target man - though The Mirror report that Liverpool aren't yet willing to match that release clause.

The report also states that striker Rickie Lambert will leave the club if Benteke does arrive on Merseyside, with West Brom interested - though Rodgers won't sanction his departure until signing a replacement.

Finally, Sport Mediaset report that Inter Milan playmaker Mateo Kovacic is in talks over a move to join German outfit Bayer Leverkusen. The Sun recently reported that Liverpool were pushing to sign the Croatian midfielder, but he could instead move to the Bundesliga this summer.
