Jamie Dimon: I might not be around all the time

JPMorgan Chase's earnings conference call concluded in unexpected fashion.

Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon ended Tuesday's call by saying he would not be attending every future conference call because he doesn't need to.

"Marianne and Sarah do such a good job that I've become unnecessary to be on all of them," Dimon said, referring to CFO Marianne Lake and Sarah Youngwood, head of investor relations.

Dimon said he's not trying to avoid conference calls.

"Don't read anything into it," he said. "Obviously if anything is important I'm not going to avoid bad news here because we like to tell the whole truth, nothing but the truth, the good, bad and the ugly."

JPMorgan did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for further comment.

Earlier on Tuesday, the banking giant reported second-quarter earnings per share that beat Wall Street estimates, but missed revenue expectations.
