The midfielder also believes getting fit this pre-season will be key ahead of a tough upcoming campaign.
The Saints have endured another summer in which their big stars have left, with Nathaniel Clyne heading to Liverpool and Morgan Schneiderlin also having completed a move to Manchester United.
They have not rested on their laurels though and have already brought in three new players to St Mary’s, with goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, defenders Cedric Soares and Cuco Martina and forward Juanmi having all joined the squad.
And Ward-Prowse says from what he’s seen, all of the new recruits look like great signings.
“From the games I’ve seen the new signings look great,” he told saintsfc.com.
“It’s very exciting when new players come to the club so I’m looking forward to meeting them and seeing what they are about.”
Fitness key in pre-season
The midfielder also insists that the players must focus on getting their fitness up during pre-season, with next year likely to be a tough one physically.
The Saints have a relatively small squad at their disposal and will face an extended campaign next season as well; having managed to secure a Europa League place with a top seven finish last season.
The competition has seemingly always had a negative effect on Premier League sides over the years, with several failing to marry both competitions last season and Ward-Prowse says it’s going to be very intense next season.
“It’s important to get the rest,” he added.
“It’s a very exciting season and we’ve got to make sure that we manage our bodies in the right way physically because we know it’s going to be very intense with all the games we have to come.”
