According to ESPN, the Merseyside outfit are preparing a bid for the Aston Villa striker.
Although Hutchison rates the Belgium international highly, the former Liverpool midfielder has concerns whether the 24-year-old would fit into Reds manager Brendan Rodgers’s side.
The problem B Rodgers has now,is getting a 25 goal a season man in!!! Benteke is good, but how many crosses from wide do LFC put in...— Don Hutchison (@donhutch4) July 13, 2015
Unless Brenden changes his shape/personnel the only men out there that suit are Suarez and Aguero. So let's see the plan. What a season— Don Hutchison (@donhutch4) July 13, 2015
Hutchison does make a valid point. Liverpool have a fluid style of play and the strikers need to be mobile.
While Benteke is a superb striker, he is not like Daniel Sturridge, who is more mobile and can switch positions on the pitch with the ease.
However, having Benteke is certainly going to help the Reds. After all, the former Genk star’s presence will provide Liverpool with a different option.
Moreover, the Belgian is not going to play on his own. When fit, Sturridge will start, which means that Rodgers is almost certainly going to play two strikers upfront.
It may require Rodgers to change his formation and playing style, but that is only going to help the team.
