Don Hutchison suggests Christian Benteke may not be suitable for Liverpool

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool this summer.

Don Hutchison has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Christian Benteke may not be a great signing for Liverpool.

According to ESPN, the Merseyside outfit are preparing a bid for the Aston Villa striker.

Although Hutchison rates the Belgium international highly, the former Liverpool midfielder has concerns whether the 24-year-old would fit into Reds manager Brendan Rodgers’s side.

Hutchison does make a valid point. Liverpool have a fluid style of play and the strikers need to be mobile.

While Benteke is a superb striker, he is not like Daniel Sturridge, who is more mobile and can switch positions on the pitch with the ease.

However, having Benteke is certainly going to help the Reds. After all, the former Genk star’s presence will provide Liverpool with a different option.

Moreover, the Belgian is not going to play on his own. When fit, Sturridge will start, which means that Rodgers is almost certainly going to play two strikers upfront.

It may require Rodgers to change his formation and playing style, but that is only going to help the team.
