Spanish defender Javier Manquillo could be set for a move to Roma, according to Italian website Tuttomercatoweb.
Manquillo has a long-term contract at Atletico Madrid but the La Liga side are keen to loan him out to gain more first team experience.
The defender signed a two-year deal with Liverpool last summer, but this was cut short last week after the Reds signed Nathaniel Clyne with Southampton.
Manquillo failed to hold down a first team place in 2014/15 for the Reds, who also have Andre Wisdom returned from loan as cover at right-back.
Liverpool had clearly decided he was not a long term option and were better off cutting him loose.
Roma is an attractive destination for the youngster, while Spanish sides Getafe, Granada and Rayo Vallecano are also interested. Tuttomercatoweb report the Italian side are in talks with Atletico Madrid at present.
A better move for Manquillo?
The Spaniard was highly regarded when he arrived from Atletico, and fell victim to the club's shift in formation.
As a right-back he was not regarded as a viable option for a back three, while also was uncomfortable playing as a wing-back.
He had no future with the Reds so they were right to cut his stay at the club short, and the potential move to Roma offers him a bright opportunity at a Champions League level club.
