Former West Bromwich Albion striker Chris Wood joined Leeds United from Leicester City earlier this month.
Leeds United striker Chris Wood has told the club’s official website that he was impressed with the club’s fans last week.
The 23-year-old striker joined the Whites from Premier League outfit Leicester City earlier this month.
Wood made his debut for the West Yorkshire club on Friday evening, starting the pre-season friendly against Harrogate Town away from home.
The former West Bromwich Albion striker played for the first 45 minutes and gave a decent account of himself at the CNG Stadium.
Following the final result (1-1), Wood spoke highly of the passion and the support of the Leeds fans.
"For me, there’s not normally that many fans for games like that,” the former West Bromwich Albion striker told Leeds’ official website.
”Credit to them for turning out and showing their support. I’ve heard it’s a great club with great support and Friday night was my first taste of it, which was great.”
Wood will be looking to make a strong impression on Leeds head coach Uwe Rosler during pre-season and earn himself a place in the starting line-up when the 2015-16 campaign gets underway.
The New Zealand international striker failed to make a huge impact at Leicester City, and he will be determined to make himself an important player for Leeds as the season progresses.
