HITC Sport understands that Bolton Wanderers, Hull City and Wigan Athletic are also keen, while interest from MLS has also been shown.

Irish striker Anthony Stokes is set for a move back to England after being told by Celtic that he can leave the club, HITC Sport understands.

The 26-year-old was limited to just 18 league starts under Ronny Delia last term despite being one of the leading scorers in Scotland the season before.

Now with the signing of Dundee United front-man Nadir Ciftci in the bag, Celtic are looking to move on their fringe forwards - one of which is Stokes.

A source close to Celtic confirmed to HITC Sport: "Stokes is not in the manager's plans, he will be moved on and he will no doubt be pleased to get regular first-team football."

Stokes has attracted interest from America's MLS - but a move south of the borer looks to be on the cards, with a number of teams showing an interest.

Hull City, Bolton and Leeds United are all thought to be keen on making a move, whilst Gary Caldwell at Wigan Athletic is also hoping he could persuade the Republic of Ireland striker to drop down to League One to help lead their promotion charge.
