Wijnaldum has become the first signing of the summer transfer window for Newcastle, arriving at the club from Dutch giants PSV over the weekend.
Anita played against the 24-year-old when he was at Ajax and is also teammates with the midfielder at the Netherlands national team.
The 26-year-old believes that Newcastle have signed a superb player in Wijnaldum, and claims that his arrival underlines the ambition of the Premier League outfit for the 2015-16 campaign.
"He is fast, can play one-against-one and is a very intelligent footballer,” Anita told Newcastle’s official website.
“He has experience, has played in some very big games already even though he is only 24 and can have a big impact on our squad, taking our level higher.
"We have signed a player who was the captain of PSV and this is a great move for both him and Newcastle.
"It's a key signing for the club and shows that we want to have a much better season than last year. Gini is a quality player and someone who can have a great impact on the group.”
Good signing for Newcastle United
Wijnaldum was one of the better players in the Eredivisie and helped PSV win the league title last season.
The former Feyenoord midfielder scored 14 goals and created 41 chances in 33 Eredivisie games during the 2014-15 campaign.
The 24-year-old had a pass accuracy of 84% and a shot accuracy of 54%, and won 17 headers, 63 dribbles and 26 tackles.
Wijnaldum is Newcastle’s first signing of the summer, and the fans will hope that there will be a few more before the start of the 2015-16 campaign.
