According to the Mirror, Jordon Ibe could be sent out on loan this summer if Liverpool sign Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev.
The report states that Cheryshev is being eyed up as the potential replacement for Raheem Sterling and could free up Ibe for another loan move should he sign.
The 19-year-old impressed while at Derby County last season and was recalled by Brendan Rodgers in January after he had seen enough to put him in the first team.
We take a look at three reasons why the rumour Liverpool could send Ibe out on loan again is likely to be complete rubbish.
Cheryshev is Sterling’s reported replacement, not Ibe’s.
The Mirror names the Real Madrid winger as the potential replacement to Raheem Sterling, yet suggests that could impact on Ibe.
Last season, Ibe and Sterling played in the same team towards the end of the season, so to suggest that Cheryshev and Ibe couldn’t do the same seems a little inaccurate.
If Cheryshev signs and Sterling leaves, it still leaves the same amount of wingers in the squad as last season - a squad that Ibe was involved in.
Ibe has already proven himself out on loan
As already mentioned, Ibe played a big part in Derby’s push for promotion last season and did enough to be recalled by Rodgers.
The decision to recall Ibe at the time was met with some skepticism as few thought he was ready for the Liverpool first-team. However, he went on to prove the doubters wrong and put in some very good performances.
Rodgers thought Ibe was good enough to be influential for the first-team last season and that seems unlikely to have changed over the summer.
