Sala currently turns out for Hellas Verona, but he could be on the verge of securing a transfer away from the club this summer, according to TMW.
Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that West Ham, Liverpool and Tottenham were tracking the midfielder, 23, ahead of a potential summer move. His versatility was said to be of great value to all the teams, with his ability to play all across the midfield, in defence, and as a wing-back making him a prime target.
However, nothing has come of that interest yet, and Sala - who moved to Verona in January 2013 - has remained with the club through the summer.
Yet, he could still be in line to depart in the coming weeks. TMW has claimed that Napoli have reached an ‘agreement in principal’ to sign Sala, as they look likely to miss out on Sassuolo’s Sime Vrsaljko. Sala was their second choice target for the right-back position, but he is closer to signing for the Naples club than Vrsaljko at this moment in time.
Sala has made 33 appearances for Verona since signing, scoring three goals and registering four assists, and it appears as if he will be taking a step up to one of Italy’s biggest clubs in the coming weeks - as Napoli prepare to formalise their interest into a concrete approach.
