Newcastle United have been named as the latest team to show an interest in Sampdoria striker Stefano Okaka, report Tuttomercatoweb.
The Serie A star is a former Fulham loanee, and last season broke into the Italian national side as a replacement for Mario Balotelli, scoring on his debut for the Azzurri.
Tuttomercatoweb report that Okaka is being trailed by Newcastle, who are looking at alternatives to QPR's Charlie Austin up front.
What do fans need to know about Okaka?
Okaka played a key role in helping Sampdoria finish in an impressive seventh place in Serie A last season, above both Milan sides.
His performances won him rave reviews, with Italian website Tuttomercatoweb last year comparing his athleticism and power to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
The 25-year-old's goal return for Sampdoria was less noteworthy, netting only four times in Serie A last season, with two assists, but remained a favourite of manager Sinisa Mihaijlovic, who has just left for AC Milan.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported Premier League Southampton are interested in his services, while just last week it was reported by Tuttomercatoweb that Stefano Okaka had rejected the chance to move to Watford, as he waits upon a more ‘attractive’ proposal.
The 25-year-old spent a short spell on loan at Fulham in 2010/11, scoring twice.
