Report: Jeremain Lens to undergo Sunderland medical today

Jeremain Lens is reportedly close to joining Premier League outfit Sunderland.

Jeremain Lens will undergo a medical with Sunderland today, according to ESPN.

The Netherlands international is on the books of Dynamo Kyiv at the moment, but he is reportedly on the verge of joining Premier League outfit Sunderland.

The Black Cats and Kyiv have agreed on a transfer fee of £9 million, according to the ESPN report.

If Lens does join Sunderland, then he will become their third signing of the summer after Sebastian Coates and Adam Matthews.

Good move from Sunderland?

Sunderland struggled for creativity last season, and they do need to sign some quality attackers this summer.

Lens is a very good player who can feature both as a striker and as a winger. Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat worked with the 27-year-old at AZ and PSV, so the pair know what to expect from each other.

Sunderland narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League last season, and they will be determined to fare better during the 2015-16 campaign.
