Newcastle agree Aleksandar Mitrovic deal but need to convince him to move

Newcastle United have agreed a deal with Anderlecht for Aleksandar Mitrovic, but now they need to persuade the striker to make the move, HITC understands.

Newcastle United are edging closer to landing in-demand marksman Mitrovic, but they still have a challenge on their hands to close out a deal.

The Serbian has been high on Newcastle's list of summer targets as they aim to bring in two strikers before the start of the season, with Queens Park Rangers' Charlie Austin their other man on their radar.

Whilst talks continue with QPR over a possible deal for Austin, Newcastle have gone one better with the Belgian champions by agreeing a deal worth £12 million for the highly-rated 20-year-old.

However, HITC Sport understands that the player is yet to decide on wether to make the move to St James' Park with Portuguese giants Porto understood to be readying a bid.

HITC Sport has learned that the player's family were in the North East over the weekend to take a look at their prospective new home and now the club are awaiting on his reply.

A source close to the club confirmed to HITC Sport: "It seems in the balance at the moment, he is a top prospect and the club are very keen to land him but the ball is in his court at the moment."
