New Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has taken to Twitter after completing his move from Southampton.
The French international became United’s fourth summer signing following in the footsteps of Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian and Bastian Schweinsteiger, but he wanted to make it clear just how important the Saints were in his career to date.
Taking to social media on Monday afternoon, Schneiderlin wrote, “Since 2008 you have been my home. Such incredible staff, players and fans; I can never thank you enough for what you have done for me.”
The 25-year-old included a selection of pictures from his time at Southampton and while the club’s supporters will be devastated to see him go, they will surely wish him the best given his impact at the club and the dignity he has shown when leaving.
Schneiderlin is exactly the kind of midfielder United have been crying out for and it will be interesting to see how manager Louis van Gaal utilises all the quality players now at his disposal.
Schneiderlin made 256 appearances for Southampton, scoring 15 goals and providing 11 assists in the process.
He previously turned out for Racing Strasbourg and he has been capped nine times by his country, but now on his way to the USA with his new United teammates, the next chapter of his career has begun.
