HITC Sport understands Major League Soccer side Sporting Kansas City have invited former Sunderland and Ghana defender John Mensah on trial.
Mensah has been without a club since a spell in Slovakia in the 2013-14 season, but he has now been offered a chance to win a move to America.
The 32-year-old boasts a wealth of experience having played in his native Ghana, Italy, France and England in his career.
Mensah enjoyed a two-year loan spell at Sunderland between 2009-11, making 34 appearances for the club during his time at the Stadium of Light.
The former Ghana captain has also won 86 caps for his country and played at two World Cups for the Black Stars.
A number of clubs in the Middle East, Chinese Premier League and Indian Super League are thought to be keen on the free agent, but Sporting Kanas are hoping to lure Mensah to MLS.
Mensah is understood to want to resolve his future soon as he wants to get back playing as he attempts to win his place back in the Ghana squad.
