Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri's shot stopping abilities were on display against Harrogate
Harrogate Town held Leeds to a draw in a pre-season friendly on Friday night, with Cecil Nyoni getting on the scoresheet for the non-league side.
The midfielder began his career at Sheffield Wednesday, making two first team appearances for the Owls.
He felt he should have scored more than just one against Leeds United during the friendly game, taking to Twitter to comment that he was still dumbfounded as to how goalkeeper Marco Silvestri denied him a second goal, posting a picture of the Italian's acrobatic save.
Still don't know how the keeper saved this last night tbh! pic.twitter.com/i8FrYsTHbG— Cecil Nyoni (@CecilNyoni26) July 11, 2015
Silvestri had a helping hand in Nyoni's opener, parrying goalbound effort which the Zimbabwean converted, but showed the best of his ability later on with the outstanding save pictured above.
The Italian played 74 minutes of the game, replaced for the final quarter of an hour by new signing Charlie Horton.
He ended last season out of the side due to an injury sustained against Norwich City, and his performance against Harrogate was a timely reminder of his ability.
He may yet face further competition for his place if Leeds head into the market for a more experienced back-up or alternative than Horton, but the way it stands Silvestri will be beginning the season as Leeds number one.
