He said: “I will stay with the Legion [Legia Warsaw], because I feel well here and it does not make sense to move anywhere. I have not signed a contract with any other club, so now I focus on work.”
This is great news to Legia fans, as Duda is arguably the best player in the Ekstraklasa, but deals a blow to the transfer plans of two Premier League clubs.
Duda, 20, has been linked with both Aston Villa and Southampton in recent weeks, with Legia.Sport reporting on their interest. It is even stated that the Saints had made a formal approach for him, but were quickly rebuffed by Legia.
The young playmaker, a Slovakian international, scored eight goals and registered nine assists in 43 games last term. His incredible rise to fame has not taken long, and he is already considered as far too good for Polish football.
Keeping ahold of the attacking midfielder would be great for Legia, but if he continues to progress at his impressive rate, it is unlikely that Duda will stay with the club for much longer.
He may have committed himself to the Polish outfit this summer, but with some of Europe’s biggest teams interested in him, it will not be too long before the talented youngster makes the step up - with the Premier League a likely future destination for the midfielder.
