Arsenal transfer round-up: Wenger identifies Manolas as key defensive target

A round up of news stories this morning related to Arsenal.

The Independent is claiming that Arsene Wenger has identified Kostas Manolas as the man he wants to come in and revitalise his defence.

The paper claims that Wenger has been a keen admirer of the Roma defender, ever since getting the chance to watch him up close three-years ago.

However, a deal is unlikely to be easy to complete with Manchester United also mentioned as interested by the paper.

The Metro has reported that striker Yaya Sanogo is on the verge of a loan move to Dutch giants Ajax.

The Frenchman has struggled to get his teeth into life at the Emirates Stadium, having already spent time on loan with Crystal Palace.

The paper suggests the main appeal of the move for the player is the chance to work with Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp.

The Metro has also reported that Arsenal are set to open talks with Napoli star Jose Callejon over a move.

The paper claims a fee in the region of £17.9 million would need to be paid in order to force any deal.

However, whether another winger is what Arsene Wenger needs in his midfield moving forward is open to debate.
