Tottenham transfer news: Mirallas for £3.5m plus Lennon and bid for James McCarthy imminent

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

According to a report from the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are readying a bid for Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

The Republic of Ireland international has featured 76 times for the Toffees since signing from Wigan Athletic, but the report claims the 24-year-old is frustrated at not being offered a new contract.

McCarthy’s current Everton deal runs until the summer of 2018 but it is now being suggested that Tottenham will test the water for a player rated at around £20million.

Tottenham certainly need to strengthen in central midfield and having seemingly finished their defensive reshuffle that could now be the next area of focus.

In other news, the Sunday People claims Tottenham will also attempt to bring in Everton winger Kevin Mirallas.

The Belgian international is being tipped to move to White Hart Lane with former Everton loanee Aaron Lennon heading in the other direction as part of the deal.

An in-form Mirallas would be a great signing for Spurs and it is being claimed that a fee in the region of £3.5million - plus Lennon - will get the deal over the line.
