Tottenham fans speak out after reports link Pochettino with double swoop for Mirallas and McCarthy

Tottenham Hotspur fans have had their say after two more players were linked with a move to White Hart Lane.

According to recent reports from the Sunday People and the Mirror respectively, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Everton pair Kevin Mirallas and James McCarthy for a combined fee of around £23.5million plus Aaron Lennon.

The two deals are being talked of separately, with McCarthy allegedly rated at £20million and Mirallas at £3.5million with the former Toffees loanee potentially going the other way in part-exchange.

HITC referenced the report in our Tottenham transfer round-up on Sunday morning, and Tottenham fans were quick to have their say on the latest rumours, with mixed results.

Looking at Tottenham’s summer transfer business to date, it is clear their manager Mauricio Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy wanted to significantly strengthen their defence.

That has happened, with Kieran Trippier signing from Burnley, Kevin Wimmer arriving from Cologne and Toby Alderweireld agreeing a long-term deal from Atletico Madrid.

So with defence seemingly now sorted, what chance the Everton pair coming in to add quality to Tottenham’s midfield?

Well, it depends on which side of the fence you sit, but as you can see from the comments below this has got Tottenham fans talking:

Mark said: ‘Both would struggle in our side. Would rather see us sign Schneiderlin and we already have Chadli so let’s finish our summer spend with Schneiderlin and Llorente.’

Top Bloke said: ‘Neither of these players would improve the squad at all. MP done good with the Alderweireld deal, very good, but I'd rather see £20M+ spent on Schneiderlin (if he'd come, which is a big question mark) than McCarthy?’

Jonesy said: ‘Don't get me wrong, I would rather Schneiderlin - but that's an unlikely acquisition. McCarthy has PL experience and would be an upgrade on Stambouli and Capoue! Mirallas is a no-brainer.'

Folkestone_Yid said: ‘For me Mirallas would not improve our first-team, if anything he would get in the way of someone like Pritchard who with game time could be a much more potent weapon for us!! I think the CM needs to be an experienced head that will improve Mason, Schneiderlin would be amazing but why not Cambiasso? Yes an older option but a free one that could be used to rest up the rest.’
