Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given has thanked everyone at the Midlands club for his time at Villa Park ahead of his move to Stoke City.
However, the Irishman has revealed his big regret - that he didn't play more games for Aston Villa.
The 39-year-old was kept out by Brad Guzan for the most part of last season and, having made mistakes himself while in goal for Tim Sherwood and Paul Lambert's sides, was never going to the club's undisputed no.1.
As such, he thanked staff, players and supporters at Villa but also reflected on what could have been.
Thanks to all the staff, players and fans @AVFCOfficial I wish I had of played more games but wasn't to be, wish u all well for the future— Shay Given (@No1shaygiven) July 12, 2015
In response, Aston Villa winger Charles N'Zogbia replied to the new Stoke goalkeeper on Twitter, wishing him all the best for the future.
N'Zogbia, though, was much criticised by the Aston Villa faithful last season and many fans surely wouldn't mind seeing the 29-year-old also head out of Villa Park this summer.
Given will add plenty of experience to the Stoke setup and has a chance of staking a claim for a first-team place considering Asmir Begovic's likely departure to Chelsea - as reported by ESPN. He will more than likely, though, be seen as a no.2.
