According to Nice-based newspaper Nice-Matin, defender Jordan Amavi isn't overly enthused by the prospect of playing for Aston Villa - and would prefer a move to Lyon.
Villa have added a number of players to their squad this summer, but both full back positions remain a concern for manager Tim Sherwood.
The likes of Alan Hutton and Aly Cissokho are unlikely to play big parts next season, meaning Sherwood must bring in a right back and a left back - and it seems that Amavi is his top target for the latter position.
French newspaper Nice-Matin report that Villa have offered more than €10m for Amavi in a bid to lure the 21-year-old to England after an impressive season for Nice.
However, the report also states that Amavi so far isn't sold on a move to Villa Park, and would prefer to sign for Nice's Ligue 1 rivals Lyon.
What should Amavi do?
Villa will allegedly offer Amavi a big contract to make the move to England, but it now doesn't look like it will come down to the money on offer.
Lyon are back in the Champions League next season, and the lure of playing on Europe's biggest stage could simply be too good for Amavi to turn down.
Villa obviously aren't out of the running for Amavi, but the defender may need time to come to a decision over his future - and Villa's move could now depend on whether Sherwood is willing to wait to grab his man, given the player's current indecision about a transfer.
