Everton fans react on Twitter to Conor McAleny's performance against Swindon

Everton Goodison

Everton defeated Swindon Town 4-0 in a pre-season friendly this weekend but what did Toffees fans think of Conor McAleny's performance?

Everton manager Roberto Martinez will have been impressed with his side’s pre-season victory against Swindon Town on Saturday with 22-year-old Conor McAleny in particular showing what e is capable of.

The striker provided assists for Kevin Mirallas (who scored two) and Romelu Lukaku as well as netting one himself to suggest he may yet have a significant impact at a club where he has only made three competitive first-team appearances to date.

McAleny has come through the ranks at Goodison Park, joining Everton’s academy back in 2003 but suffering serious injury blows since, including a broken leg on two occasions.

He will now be hoping those setbacks are well and truly behind him, and he proved on Saturday that he has the talent. The question is: Does he have the luck to go with it?

The match also saw summer signings Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu get game-time but it was McAleny who stole the show.

After the match we took to Twitter to see what Everton fans thought of McAleny’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
