Celtic have been linked with the player who featured four times at the 2014 World Cup.
The 21-year-old centre-back is currently on the books at Chelsea but he is yet to make his first-team debut for the Blues and will struggle to do so given the number of senior stars ahead of him in the pecking order.
Omeruo has previously had loan spells at ADO Den Haag and Middlesbrough and despite his failure to break into the Chelsea first-team he is still a regular for his country, playing all four of Nigeria’s matches at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Celtic have recently signed Dedryck Boyata from Manchester City but Africanfootball.com is now reporting that Bhoys boss Ronny Deila has his eye on another defender.
The report cites a source which claims both Celtic and Spanish side Granada are interested in the youngster, along with a number of unnamed Championship clubs.
Omeruo is predominantly a centre-back although he can also play as a right-back if required, and his arrival would give Celtic additional strength in depth at a time when they need it given their presence in the Champions League qualifying stages.
Omeruo could even replace Virgil van Dijk if the latter leaves Celtic but that is purely speculation and it would be far better for Deila if he had both men to call on next season and beyond.
