Manchester United have won the race to sign Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton, report The BBC.
The French international was last night undergoing a medical, with the aim of the deal being done in time for the midfielder to travel on the club's pre-season tour to the US.
Arsenal had been linked to Schneiderlin for more than a year, with the Frenchman's impressive performances for the Saints winning praise.
With Arsenal in need of a defensive midfielder, he could have been an ideal fit, but their interest seemed to wane when it mattered most, seemingly stepping aside to allow Manchester United in to sign the star.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's decision will have been helped by the emergence of Francis Coquelin, but it would still be a surprise to see the Frenchman elect not to strengthen the position this summer.
Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho is one alternative, while Arsenal also stood by as Inter Milan signed Geoffrey Kondogbia earlier this summer.
Seeing Schneiderlin join competitors United has brought a mixed reaction from supporters, here is a look at what Arsenal fans had to say on Twitter after last night's reports emerged...
