Tottenham transfer news: Club want more than £5m for Chiriches; Villa not put off by £15m Townsend price-tag

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur have rejected a £3.6million opening bid from Turkish side Galatasaray for defender Vlad Chiriches.

The Romanian international could struggle for game-time following the arrival of Toby Alderweireld, Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier this summer, but it seems Spurs will not let him go on the cheap.

The latest report claims Galatasaray are prepared to offer Chiriches a weekly wage of £40,000 but Tottenham are said to want more than £5million in order to sanction the move.

In other news, the Mirror claims Aston Villa have not been put off by Tottenham’s £15milllion asking price for England international Andros Townsend.

Villa boss Tim Sherwood is allegedly desperate to sign the winger this summer with contact said to have taken place between the two clubs.

However, it is being reported that Townsend may be reluctant to leave a club playing in Europe, even though featuring week in, week out would no doubt strengthen his chances of making it to Euro 2016 with England.
