Kevin Strootman sends message to Georginio Wijnaldum on Twitter

Reported long-term Manchester United target Kevin Strootman backs Georginio Wijnaldum to be a success at Newcastle United.

AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has taken to social networking site Twitter to wish Georginio Wijnaldum the best of luck at Newcastle United.

Wijnaldum has joined Premier League outfit Newcastle from Dutch giants PSV, having established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Eredivisie.

Strootman, a former teammate of the 24-year-old at PSV, believes that the former Feyenoord star will be a success at St. James' Park.

Following the official announcement of Wijnaldum’s move to the Magpies, the 25-year-old sent his Netherlands international teammate the following message on Twitter:

Will Kevin Strootman join Georginio Wijnaldum in the Premier League?

Strootman is one of the best midfielders in the world when fully fit and has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

The former Utrecht star, whose tenure at Roma has been plagued with injuries so far, has reportedly been on Manchester United’s radar for quite some time.

Back in November 2012, Strootman’s agent told talkSPORT that United made contact regarding a move in the summer of 2013, while The Daily Mail reported in January 2015 that the Premier League giants are planning a move for him this summer.
