The summer signing has been put through his paces at Hotspur Way as pre-season gears up.
Former Burnley right-back Kieran Trippier has revealed his thoughts on pre-season and the importance of learning his colleague's style of play before the season gets underway.
“It’s always good to get going again and get back playing games… fitness is the most important thing,” said the 24-year old on the club’s official website.
Trippier was speaking following a 4-0 Tottenham Hotspur victory over Southend United in a behind closed doors friendly at Hotspur Way on Friday.
Nabil Bentaleb and Danny Rose were among the goals as Spurs began their pre-season schedule with a win, and Trippier feels that game scenarios are crucial for the gelling of the team ahead of the new season.
“It’s massive to integrate and bond with the team and it’s been a good week. Everyone at the club has made it feel like home and to know my team-mates positions (on the pitch) is vital.”
On the Defensive
All three should be fully integrated by the time the Premier League opener on August 8th comes around, and there is the expectation that Spurs’ defensive unit next season should drastically improve upon their poor showing last term.
There is now quality cover in each position at the back and questions will begin to be asked if Mauricio Pochettino is unable to mould such a talented bunch into a cohesive unit.
Attacking arrivals have been less forthcoming, however, and integration may be an issue in the attacking third should Daniel Levy hold out for late bargains.
