And the 19-year-old, who recently joined Everton on a permanent basis, has sent the Belgian a message on Twitter to congratulate him on his move to Spain.
great new my friend yannick carrasco sign 5 years for atletico madrid ! congratulation my friend— David Henen (@HenenDavid) July 10, 2015
Tottenham can consider Carrasco a loss if a club like Atletico were keen to pay a sizeable fee for him. Especially when the north London side are in need of another wide man.
Based on last season, only Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen were consistently creative forces in behind Harry Kane from out wide. Andros Townsend failed to deliver, while Erik Lamela has shown promise but has underwhelmed considering his big-money price-tag.
Even if Lamela does come good next season, which may well be the case, another winger would surely be a required addition.
For Everton, meanwhile, Henen will look to make as big of an impact as he can, although a loan move could also be an option for the 19-year-old.
