Former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes’s current side Real Sociedad lost 1-0 to Celtic on Friday.
The Scottish Premiership champions returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over the Spanish club at St. Mirren Park in Paisley.
The Bhoys headed into the encounter on the back of a 5-3 defeat to Dukla Prague at St. Mirren Park.
Prior to that defeat to Dukla, the Scottish giants had got the better of Den Bosch 2-0.
Celtic bounced back from that loss to Dukla with a narrow 1-0 win against David Moyes’s Sociedad.
Mackay-Steven’s goal midway through the second half proved to be the difference between the Hoops and Sociedad.
Following the win, Griffiths and Mackay-Steven took to Twitter to revel in the success.
Good game tonight against a decent side. Looking forward to Wednesday now. Last game wearing number 28. #celtic— leigh griffiths (@Leighgriff09) July 10, 2015
Another good test tonight, feeling fitter and sharper every game. Onto Wednesday now— Gary Mackay-Steven (@Gary__11) July 10, 2015
Celtic’s next game is on Wednesday. It is against Stjarnan in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.
Ronny Deila’s side will head into the first leg of the tie at Celtic Park as favourites, and having just won, the players will be confident of producing a very good performance.
