Benjamin Stambouli's transfer from Tottenham to Watford reportedly almost over the line

Watford are reportedly on the verge of adding another Tottenham Hotspur player to their ranks.

According to a report from the Watford Observer, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Benjamin Stambouli’s transfer to newly-promoted Watford is about to edge over the line.

The Hornets sealed a deal for Spurs midfielder Etienne Capoue last week and it now seems they are about to reunite him with his countryman after the latter spent just a year with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The Watford Observer claims they have been told that a deal is almost complete for a player who could not bring his best form to Tottenham following his summer move from Montpellier.

There the defensive midfielder shone and when Tottenham first made their move it looked like a smart piece of business. But a year on and Stambouli has made only 25 appearances for the club – and only 12 in the Premier League.

Much like Capoue, Stambouli is a talented midfielder who simply could not build momentum at White Hart Lane.

It could well be that if his move to Watford is completed both him and Capoue prove they have the talent to succeed in England.

Tottenham have plenty of midfield options still to call on, but regardless of what happens with Stambouli they would be wise to move for an experienced player as they push for a return to the top four, with Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin the most obvious candidate.
