Galatasary have made a bid for Tottenham Hotspur defender Vlad Chiriches, according to a report.

According to a report by the Turkish website Spor.haber7.com, Galatasary have submitted a £3.6 million offer for Tottenham Hotspur defender Vlad Chiriches.

The Romanian international has failed to establish himself as a first-team star since joining the club in 2013, making just eight Premier League appearances last season.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino seemingly isn’t too impressed, strengthening his defence further this summer with the acquisition of Kevin Wimmer from Bundesliga side Cologne.

Eric Dier, Federico Fazio and Jan Vertonghen also provide centre-back options at White Hart Lane, prompting plenty of questions over the future of Chiriches.

The 25-year-old was brought to the club with money used from the Gareth Bale sale, a tough position to be in considering how popular the Welsh superstar was prior to his switch to Real Madrid.

It’s perhaps not that Chiriches is a bad player, but the demands of the Premier League can be tough on foreign imports and he’s not the only one who has been disappointing in North London.

The opportunity to sell him represents a chance for Pochettino to trim the squad while putting extra cash in the transfer kitty pot, perhaps to be used in adding a new striker to bolster the attacking options.

The bid from Galatasary may not cover quite what Spurs paid for him, but a section of the Tottenham supporters nonetheless would like to see him sold as per comments in our previous article.

Anthony Berry said: "He is totally unsuited to the premier league. He could be Ok in the Italian or Portuguese leagues playing a slower pace and less physical style of football. If Spurs can get near to £5m then sell him. Also get rid of Kaboul. May be give Fazio one more season because of his attitude."

tonyn said: "Get rid - error prone and not physically suited to the Premier league - OK at full back but we have plenty of cover in that position."

Zoran Zuze said: "Surprised anybody wants to pay anything for him. Lost count of the amount of times he was dispossessed while trying to be too cute on the ball and the amount of stupid passes he made. Probably never got a chance to build a solid partnership with anybody and did look semi-solid at right back to be fair. However, as things stand, just getting him off the wage bill would be huge for me!"

George said: "No!! Give him one more season like Lamela!" - azas replied: "really? you sure about that?"

Tony b said: "Give him one more season! Really?? He is one of the worst players I've ever seen in a spurs shirt, I hate seeing his name in the line up. We massively over paid for him, he's not worth much more than the offer, I'd bite there hand off just to get shot of him. To much of a liability."
