Tottenham evening round-up: Chiriches bid rejected, Kane on Manchester United shortlist

Vlad Chiriches

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Friday evening.

Tottenham have rejected a bid of around £3.6 million from Galatasaray for defender Vlad Chiriches, the London Evening Standard reports.

The Romanian looks destined to depart White Hart Lane this summer after being made surplus to requirements, but Spurs are looking to recoup around £5 million of the £8.5 million they paid Steaua Bucharest for his services two years ago.

Spurs striker Harry Kane is still among the list of forwards attracting the interest of Manchester United, the Daily Mail reports.

It is highly unlikely that Kane will leave White Hart Lane this summer, but on the back of a stunning campaign which saw him score in excess of 30 goals in all competitions, United have demonstrated that they are keen on him.

However, he is part of a list that is said to include the names of several strikers, including Thomas Muller, Edinson Cavani and Gonzalo Higuain, according to the report.

The Standard reports that Tottenham are set to miss out on one their midfield targets, with Monaco's Yannick Ferreira Carrasco set to join Atletico Madrid.

They cite reports in Spain which indicate the move is close, and that the La Liga side have managed negotiate Monaco down from their asking price of around £14.4 million to £10.8 million with the promise of retaining a percentage of any future sale of the 21-year-old.
