Speaking to reporters for The Sun, Udinese star Emmanuel Badu has explained how he travelled to the UK last week to hold talks with Stoke City over a switch to the Britannia Stadium.
As per a report in the Italian publication TMW, recently promoted Watford were said to be closing in on a deal for the player along with his Udinese teammate Thomas Heurtaux.
“I went to the UK. I had a series of meetings with some big men. I haven’t signed any deal but the window is open until the end of August, so anything can happen,” Badu conceded.
An ideal replacement for the recently sold Steven N’Zonzi?
Following N’Zonzi’s switch to La Liga side Sevilla, Stoke are now left with a big void in midfield and boss Mark Hughes needs to fill it with a like-for-like player.
Badu had an impressive campaign in Serie A, often playing as the deepest lying midfielder and using his tenacious attributes to provide sound protection for the defence.
At just 24 years of age, the 5ft 8ich midfielder has plenty of potential to become an established player in the Premier League and a leading figure at the Britannia Stadium.
