Stoke are reportedly poised to sign Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel.
Begovic, 28, is seemingly set to leave Stoke in order to replace Petr Cech at Chelsea, providing cover for first choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The Mirror report that the deal will send £8m to the Potters, as well as Dutch midfielder van Ginkel on a season-long loan deal, which should be completed in the coming days.
Stoke were keen to take a Chelsea youngster on loan in part-exchange, and have decided that they want van Ginkel instead of Nathan Ake, Nathaniel Chalobah and Patrick Bamford.
The 22-year-old is now poised to join Mark Hughes' men, providing a creative spark in central midfield that Stoke have been missing in recent years.
The news will come as a blow to Newcastle, who were keen to bring van Ginkel to Tyneside on loan for the season, according to the Daily Mail.
Concerns for Newcastle?
Steve McClaren's appointment as Newcastle manager last month was supposed to signal the start of a new era at St. James' Park, but so far, that couldn't be further from the case.
With no new signings and a virtual silence from the club, Magpies fans are starting to become frustrated with the club's lack of activity - and missing out on van Ginkel is another blow.
