As per an announcement on AS Monaco's Twitter page, they have agreed a deal with Lille for their highly-rated midfielder Adama Traore.
The 20-year-old was one of the standout youngsters in France last season, attracting plenty of attention from a number of top European clubs.
As per a report in L’Equipe, Manchester United were accredited with an interest while fellow Premier League side Liverpool were also seen as a potential destination for Traore this summer, as per Le10sport.
The Reds were said to be keen on adding him alongside Divock Origi. However, it looks like the Anfield side have been pipped to his signature as a switch to Monaco has instead been agreed.
What are Liverpool missing out on?
Adama Traore made 20 French top-flight appearances for Lille last season, and was recognised for his excellent passing ability, his successful dribbling and his ball interceptions.
A Mali U20 international, the talented midfielder has plenty of potential to become a leading figure for a top European club and the Reds may end up regretting not pushing ahead with their reported interest.
