Former Newcastle fan favourite Yohan Cabaye has signed for Crystal Palace.
It comes just 18 months after the dynamic midfielder left Newcastle behind to sign for French champions PSG.
Competing with Marco Verratti, Thiago Motta and Blaise Matuidi made it hard for the international to establish himself in Paris, and he has taken the chance to move on to play first team football.
A fan favourite on Tyneside, Cabaye would have been welcomed back with open arms by the Newcastle support, but the club did not make re-signing him a priority.
Crystal Palace pushed hardest, with the fact Cabaye rejoins former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew rubbing salt in the wounds.
Coincidentally, or not if you are more of a cynic, it was announced at the same time that Newcastle had an agreement in principle to sign exciting PSV winger Georginio Wijnaldum, as reported the Shields Gazette.
This certainly deflected much of the fan anger surrounding Cabaye signing for Palace, instead turning the mood very much towards the 29-year-old, believing he has made the wrong move.
Here is a look at what supporters had to say on Twitter after the deal was announced...
