Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Jordan Henderson becoming captain

Former Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson has become the new captain of Liverpool.

Liverpool fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the news that Jordan Henderson has been appointed the club’s new captain.

The 25-year-old has been given the captain’s armband following the departure of Steven Gerrard from Anfield at the end of the 2014-15 season.

The former Sunderland star has been on the books of the Merseyside outfit since 2011 and has established himself as a key member of the team.

Henderson has been one of the best players for Liverpool for the past two seasons, making himself virtually indispensable in midfield.

The England international has made 186 appearances for Liverpool, with 19 of those coming while wearing the skipper’s armband.

The 25-year-old has been the Premier League club’s vice-captain since last September, and it makes sense that he has been made the skipper.

Following the news, Liverpool fans took to Twitter to have their say. Below are the comments, as well as Sunderland’s message to Henderson on Twitter:
