HITC Sport understands that the Terriers are set to snap up the talented teenager, fending off interest from elsewhere.
The teenage midfielder has been heavily linked with a move this summer, with several clubs believed to be closely monitoring his situation.
The Terriers have been leading that chase and are now poised to put an agreement in place that takes him to the John Smith’s Stadium.
Still only 19 years of age, Dempsey is a product of Carlisle’s academy system and enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2014/15 as he made 47 appearances in all competitions.
Those outings included 11 goals, bringing him to the attention of suitors outside of Cumbria.
Carlisle boss Keith Curle has previously admitted, as reported on by the News & Star, that Dempsey has a buyout clause in his contract which runs until 2016.
They will be understandably reluctant to part with a home-grown star of such potential, but Huddersfield will be able to offer the youngster a Championship stage on which to display his talent.
