The 24-year-old left-back has returned to Spain to join La Liga side Eibar on a two-year deal.
Unfortunately, things did not quite work out that way for the man fans affectionately dubbed “Tony Moon”.
Signed from Sevilla in June 2013 for around £1.5 million, Luna featured 18 times for Villa over the first half of the 2013-14 season but, after a promising start, found himself dropped in mid-January due to a poor run of form, as fellow left-back Ryan Bertrand was brought in on loan from Chelsea.
|2013-14 Premier League||Position||Team||Goals||Assists||Total Key Passes||Passing Accuracy||Total Crosses GAME||Total Tackles GAME||Total Clearances GAME||Total Dribbles GAME||Appearances||Mins Played|

After failing to make another appearance for the rest of the term, the Spaniard was then sent out on a season-long loan to Serie A’s Verona last summer but did not see a single minute of action before switching his spell to Spezia in the winter transfer window.
He did not fare much better in the Italian second tier, however, making just four starts before sitting out the final 10 games of the campaign.
With manager Tim Sherwood now revamping the Villa squad in his first transfer window in charge, the 24-year-old defender’s recent struggles suggested that he was likely heading for the exit door this summer, and so it has proved.
The final 12 months of his contract rescinded, Luna is now moving back to Spain to join La Liga side Eibar on a deal until 2017, marking the departure of another of former boss Paul Lambert’s transfer busts.
Nevertheless, having become somewhat of a cult hero among the claret and blue faithful during his brief run in the side, the former Under-20 international received a fairly decent send-off from the club’s Twitter-based supporters upon news of his switch.
