Aleksandar Mitrovic is close to joining Newcastle United, the Anderlecht striker’s agent has told The Chronicle.
However, it is Newcastle who appear to be on the verge of signing Mitrovic.
“The formalisation of the transfer will be made in the coming hours,” Pini Zahavi told The Chronicle. “Mitrovic and will sign a contract for five seasons for the former club of Philippe Albert.”
Good signing for Newcastle United?
Mitrovic is a highly-rated young striker, and the fact that he is a regular for the Serbia national team shows that he is ready to join a big European club.
The youngster is certainly promising, and working under an experienced and reputed manager like Steve McClaren is only going to make him better.
However, the 20-year-old is still untested and will be a ‘gamble signing’. True, the youngster has done well in European competitions, but he has yet to show his calibrate in a top domestic league.
This means that the Newcastle fans will have to be patient and afford Mitrovic time to settle in at St. James’ Park.
