Adam Matthews sends a message to Celtic fans on Twitter

Former Cardiff City defender Adam Matthews joined Sunderland from Celtic earlier this month.

Adam Matthews has taken to social networking site Twitter to thank the Celtic fans for their support over the last four years.

The Wales international defender has left Scottish Premiership champions Celtic and moved to Premier League outfit Sunderland on a four-year contract.

According to BBC Sport, the Black Cats had to pay as much as £2 million in transfer fee for the services of the 23-year-old right-back.

Matthews played for Celtic for four years after moving to the Glasgow giants from Welsh outfit Cardiff City in the summer of 2011.

During his time at Celtic Park, the Welshman won the league title four times and established himself as one of the better players in Scotland.

The 23-year-old has taken to Twitter to show his appreciation for the Celtic fans and is looking forward to having s successful time at Sunderland.

Matthews will now be determined to show his quality in the Premier League and take his game to the next level.
