He also says that midfield rival Jack Wilshere will be itching to get back and prove his worth.
The Wales international formed an impressive central midfield partnership with Santi Cazorla last season, with the Spaniard having moved from a more forward role into a deeper lying post.
However, he was also asked to play in a more unfamiliar wide right role by manager Arsene Wenger towards the end of the season, a position the Frenchman has used him in previously.
And while Ramsey thinks he did a decent job in that role, he has reiterated his desire to operate centrally in 2015/16 .
“I prefer in the middle and I’ve made no secret of that,” he told Sky Sports.
“My favourite position is in the middle and that’s where I want to play next season. I’ll be fighting as hard as I can to get back there.”
Wilshere raring to go
Unfortunately for Ramsey, he faces fierce competition for a place in Arsenal’s central midfield berths, with a number of players in the squad vying for those coveted spots.
Chief among them is England man Jack Wilshere, who returned from injury in the latter stages of last season and impressed, with a wonder goal in the final day defeat of West Bromwich Albion followed by two spectacular strikes for England in their Euro 2016 qualifying win over Slovenia.
And Ramsey says he is sure his midfield rival will be 'itching to get back out' and prove his worth to the Gunners.
“I’m sure he’ll be itching to get back out there and show what he can do,” he added.
“He obviously had a strong end to the back end of last year, he looked sharp and obviously was fit and raring to go again. There’s no question about his ability, he’s a fantastic player and hopefully he can stay fit throughout this campaign.”
