West Ham United transfer round-up: Player to be sold if asking price matched

The latest selection of news concerning West Ham United.

According to Gazette Live, Middlesbrough have been handed a boost in the race to sign Stewart Downing, with West Ham willing to sanction a deal for their winger.

If Boro can match the asking price on Downing’s head, the Hammers are set to sell him, with the 30-year-old no longer seen as a main part of their first-team set-up.

The Championship side are said to be willing to pay both the asking price and his wage packet, making a deal very likely.

Concerning incoming players, the Mirror claim that Carlos Vela has rejected an offer to move to the Boleyn Ground. The former Arsenal forward is currently with Real Sociedad, and although willing to pay his asking price, he is not keen on a move to West Ham.

The Hammers have also been dealt a blow in the race to sign Mattia Destro, with Calciomercato claiming that he is holding ongoing talks with Monaco.

He is said to be keen on a move to the principality club, and their allure of Champions League football and financial strength could see the Roma striker choose Ligue 1 over the Premier League.
