On this day in 2006, Italy defeated France in the World Cup Final.
Zinedine Zidane opened the scoring with a penalty, before Marco Materazzi equalised 12 minutes late.
The Italians went through to win on penalties after the game ended 1-1, but it is more widely remembered for Zidane head-butting Materazzi late in the game. As extra-time rumbled on, the French captain was provoked by Materazzi, being sent off - and Les Bleus went on to lose the game.
Although he was provoked by his Italian defender, what Zidane did was reprehensible, and his red card was rightly given.
It goes down in history as one of the most shocking moments of World Cup history, and even of football history. He was the fourth player to be sent off in a World Cup Final, and only the second person to be sent off in two separate World Cup tournaments.
He will long be remembered for his action, and to celebrate this anniversary, we take a look at five shocking Premier League moments throughout the years.
