Sevilla 'the perfect choice' for N'Zonzi after leaving Stoke City

Moving to La Liga is regarded as a fresh challenge by Steven N'Zonzi, following his arrival from Stoke City.

Steven N'Zonzi officially completed his move from Stoke City to Sevilla on Thursday, after passing his medical and signing a four-year deal with the Spanish club, who have also tied a €30 million release clause into his contract.

Early in the evening and with the formalities resolved, N'Zonzi was presented to the media at the Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium, and via the Sevilla FC official website, offered his first thoughts.

Regarding his move of clubs as a step up in his footballing career, N'Zonzi explained: "I'm really satisfied to be here at Sevilla. They're a really good team, and so are Stoke City, but Sevilla is a welcome move for my characteristics. I've come here to grow and for my future, Sevilla is the perfect choice."

The 26-year-old midfielder revealed he'd consulted his team-mates Bojan Krkic and Marc Muniesa at Stoke City, about the possibility of moving to La Liga, highlighting: "I spoke with my Spanish colleagues at Stoke. I called them when this option came up. Everything they've told me (about La Liga) is good."

Looking forward to the challenge of playing in Spain, N'Zonzi added: "What I like most of all about coming here, is that it's a different competition. One I think is best suited for me. I think I'll grow here as a player and achieve important objectives."

Regarded as a direct replacement for Stephane M'Bia in midfield, sporting director Monchi was clear to point out: "M'Bia is M'Bia and N'zonzi is N'Zonzi. Each have their own characteristics."

"There are some similarities to M'Bia in what he can offer us. Not only is he a physically strong player, which is what attracted our attention, he's also a player who gets forward well and he's a really good footballer." Monchi concluded, satisfied to have landed his primary midfield target of the summer.
